Chocolates form the important part of the culinary sector. Now as every one is concerned about the health, let us see how far chocolates affect the health. But part of the myth surrounding chocolate is that it tastes so good it must be bad for your health which gives it an air of the forbidden. Some medical experts have stated that chocolates contain sugar substances and thus add calories to the body and increase the sugar levels in the blood. Surprisingly, chocolates give away lot of potential benefits to the ones who enjoy them. Chocolate is so delicious that it is hard to believe it has any kind of health benefit.Chocolate contains over 300 chemicals, and has been the subject of a number of studies by universities and other scientific organizations. Yet in chocolate there are vitamins essential for our body's proper functioning. The same chocolate contains calcium, potassium, iron, vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin C, vitamin D, and vitamin E. Chocolate contains flavonoids, that are great for your heart. The definition that American Heritage Dictionary gives for flavonoid is any of a large group of water-soluble plant pigments, including the anthocyanins that are beneficial to health. Flavonoids act as antioxidants to our bodies. Flavonoids repair damage and protect from environmental toxins. Flavonoids are found in many foods and beverages. Flavonoids are found in cranberries, apples, peanuts, red wine, tea, onions, and most importantly, chocolate just to name a few.Chocolates are outstanding sources of catechins, which are polyphenols of the flavanol group. These catechins are potential sources to protect the human body against heart disease, cancer, and various other medical dis-eases. Pain is undesirable and our physique is designed in such a way that the brain releases endorphins that act as pain-relievers. It is pleasing to hear that chocolates facilitate the release of endorphins. The cocoa butter in chocolate contains oleic acid, a mono-unsaturated fat which may raise good cholesterol. Drinking a cup of hot chocolate before meals may actually diminish appetite. Chocolate also contains nitric oxide. Nitric oxide helps maintain blood pressured and a healthy heart. There is a lot of research being done to strengthen and understand this link. The chocolate benefits do not stop there.New research is coming out talking about its positive effects regarding lowering blood pressure, regulating insulin levels in diabetics, helping pregnant women, dental health, cardiovascular, and sleeplessness. The list goes on.If the cocoa in chocolate does any good, the sugar and the undesirable products spoil it and make them worse. For example, if cocoa is claimed to reduce the risk of acne, the sugar in chocolate increases it. The less desirable include added sugar, corn syrup, milk fats, dairy cream, hydrogenated oils, etc. Most candy bars and chocolate foods commonly found in stores are not what you're looking for. These are typically high in refined sugar, milk fats, and hydrogenated oils-ingredients that replace the truly healthful nutrients found in cocoa. So now that you have this information. Chocolate is not nearly as bad as people once thought, when you are talking about its fat. Keep in mind we are not talking about a chocolate bar that contains caramel, nuts, etc inside them, because these are not healthy.
